Oh, people look what [personal profile] beyourwings gave me:

Oooku's trailer! Low quality, filmed at some screening apparently, but you can get the picture.

Edit for second trailer: [livejournal.com profile] suikascented shared a HQ trailer here:

Commenting with spoilers for Oooku's 1st volume ) I'm scared of some of that acting, but apparently is very close to the manga. I wonder how Yoshinaga must feel right now. Seriously, it looks awesome.

Now, on shonen manga:

Fairy Tail: General thoughts on the manga )

Kinda messy comments on the plot: Spoilers and comments up to chapter 150 )

ETA for spoilers to 155: Spoilers relevant to this post )

Reborn: Pst. You know, it's pretty funny how Reborn's fandom can make an uberly dreadful chapter way more fun. If I ever doubted this manga was all about its fandom.

Fairy Tail

I'm just at page 52 of the first chapter and already thinking, "DUDE, this manga is AWESOME." (I'm going to be mean, but it's exactly the difference between Shonen Magazine and Shonen Jump. The art is obviously emulating One Piece, but the focus on women characters is very different from anything I have seen on WSJ.)

And they say the female characters just get better. I'm so sorry OM is about to close now.

(Also, when I was about to continue with Oooku at Manga Fox, I found this. FML)

ALL OF OOKU (translated to english until now) IS UP ON MANGAFOX PEOPLE! (Also. TRIGGER WARNING: vol 2 has a lot of rape scenes. A lot. (Spoilers in the comments.)

Also, thanks to [personal profile] pseudo_tsuga for pointing this to me. Let's do a "follow Monday"... something:

[community profile] animanga_news:

This is intended as a Dreamwidth-oriented newsletter for anything anime/manga related. Fan art & fiction, meta & discussion, icons & graphics, release dates and more. Because there is animanga content on DW, only sometimes it can be hard to find.

Again, just passing randomly

OOOKU CHAPTERS 3 AND 4 UP ON MANGAFOX. Thanks to [personal profile] rainbowrin for telling me! <3

I'm just... you know... passing.

And thus, volume 1 ends. Chapter 4 is my favorite from this volume.

I'm just passing, I'm just passing

THE SECOND CHAPTER OF OOOKU IS UP ON MANGAFOX.

I'm not, like, making it obligatory for you to read it or something. Like. At all.

ETA: Awww, it was kinda short. I thought that chapter covered more. Well, anyway, it gets better.

I need icons of this

My Amazon copies (yeah, I still buy from them, they are the less expensive) had stickers with "Eisner Award Nominee" on them. More awards for Oooku to come, and it so deserves it Apparently it was nominated back in 2008.

I read the first chapter on Mangafox and wasn't that seduced. It was good, but I did not understand the hype. Now? I don't think the hype makes it justice. It's really one of the best manga written until now. Just for the way it address the themes of its plot and the complexity of the relationships.

Volumes 1 and 2. Mostly reactions and lots of spoilers here. Long. )

Yeah, this deserves its own post

Ooku wins James Tiptree Award. It's the first time a manga has won. Ooku has also was "recipient of special prize at The Japanese Association of Feminist Science Fiction and Fantasy's fifth annual Sense of Gender awards (2005), Excellence Award for manga at Japan Media Arts Festival (2006), and Grand Prize in Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize (2009)".

I post this because I can. And because, against all economy odds, I ordered the first two volumes. Oops.

Oh God. How much I don't want to study Biochemistry. Let me count the ways.
