From this discussion about manpain in fiction came this thing of beauty, FLOWCHART: HOW TO TELL YOUR PAIN IS ~~***MANPAIN***~~.

Normal pain either gets dealt with and forgotten or not dealt with and forgotten as part of the narrative- it's a "one-time" event that doesn't really get much mention after it happens. "Oh, too bad"
Manpain, is super important and life defining, even if it's normally not that big of a deal, because a man is feeling it, and using his supreme angst to drive forward in doing weird obsessive compulsive things and it shows you he's not really a dick, but a wounded person who just needs true wuv to assuage the everlasting pain that defines his life. "ZOMG YOU ARE CHANGED FOREVERZ"
