Or something.

I came back! And you know what? I spend my days in Camboriú studying P-Chem. But I went to the sea once! And saw [personal profile] bell! And traveling in car for 16 hours? Boy, that was the best part: there was rain, getting lost and persecutions with shooting.

No, seriously.

See, there is something about coming back home, just crossing the frontier and finding oneself in the middle of a firing. Because this is Paraguay and we are extreme. And lawless apparently. You know the contrast with Brazil having actual laws and stuff.

We were passing Brazilian customs and my father was talking about how they don't ask for documentation because we were entering our country or something, he started talking about the two Brazilian cars behind us: a small Fiat, and the one behind it, a small white car which brad I didn't see. He noticed how a group of Brazilian cops immediately went after the small white car, he thought it was due to evading documentations or something, and well, this is La Triple Frontera, so that's routine. Then I saw the Fiat, whose driver probably didn't notice what was happening, giving space to the white car to let it go ahead. The white car did. Taking the Fiat's left rear-view mirror with it. Seriously. I just saw the mirror flying and hitting the floor and then the white car was behind us. Then we heard the shootings, and saw two armed Brazilian cops on a motorcycle following the white car. My father let them pass because he sure as hell didn't want our car end like the Fiat. And they passed some centimeter besides us (because this is "El Puente de la Amistad" and this is how you cross it) with the cops making shots to the air.

Next thing we saw were the Brazilian cops coming back without nothing, of course the guy went away (we theorize it was a robbed car, the guy driving wasn't armed and was alone), and of course there were our cops and militia in our customs looking very interested in all that was happening without moving a finger.

And yeah, when Brazilian people enter our country? They don't make any documentation, our customs are non existing. Paraguay, the paradise for... car robbers.

So yeah, pretty traditional welcome home.

(I will be talking about all the rest later because I have an exam on Monday, and I haven't studied for that one at all because it isn't P-Chem and I was vacationing. So yay me.)

It's pretty unfortunate that my first post of the year (decade? there is a lot of debate about that) comes, and surprise! Yet again ranting against humanity.

But let me tell you something internets. Truly, you may not believe it, but there are more important matters than your enjoyment of slash fiction. You are not trivializing important issues because you are darker and edgier, you are doing it because you are young and very privileged and cannot grasp the severity of the matter in question.

No love, me.

Uhm, have you been madly in love with a male character in a stereotypical Shonen Jump manga series? Just asking because I have heard it happens sometimes. Not that I know about it.

Who am I kidding? MY NEW MANGA BOYFRIEND AND CURRENT OBSESSION, YAMAMOTO TAKESHI. Just him though, his series gives me headaches more often than not.

Arg. ARG. Damn it, CLAMP. Tsubasa ends in two chapter.

Spoilers for latest chapters )

SOME IMPORTANT ETA HERE: People, we are adults. I don't have to tell you to put spoilers under cut and stuff when these last two chapters come out. A cut never killed someone before. Talk all you want UNDER them. No hints. Thank you so much por adelantado (yeah, I don't know how to say that in english, it kinda sounds cool like that).

Yeah, I have to study now. And, uhm, yeah, those exams. Let's not talk about those. Who does want to hear about exams? Certainly not me.

I totally forgot to post about this:

Heard in Pathology lab yersterday:

CLASSMATE 1: *Talking to the teacher about some disease she heard about in a TV show* And that is how sometimes you learn something watching TV.
CLASSMATE 2 (who is also probably the best student in all the faculty): Like Dr. House!
CLASSMATE 1: Arg. I can't stand the guy. And that show is so much bullshit.
TEACHER (Dr in Medicine, Pathologist, also a woman in her fifties): AAAH! THAT SO MUCH BULLSHIT! Like my colleague was telling me the other day, WHAT A BIG LIE!* He never needs of someone else! He doesn't needs of a Phatologist, he doesn't need of the lab and lab-results that take weeks to come. He diagnostics everything! Some rare diseases in a instant when you need to do thousands of lab tests, and those don't do it yourself.
CLASSMATE 2: But. But. He has revelations while eating!

(*ETA: Because she was very passionate about that, textual: "Como mi compañera me dijo, QUE MENTIRA!")

Dude. I was so evading talking about this, but.

Well, slash is kind of the female equivalent of the straight male interest in transsexuals. That is, the opposite of what culture would predict. So it probably reflects a more direct subcortical effect. Also, there's already data out there about romance novels we can use, which probably overlaps with relationships in fan fic, but we do have a few questions that aren't specific to slash. Maybe we'll have more in the next round.

..........

Not enough dots.

"Transsexuals" who of course are not people, but something that is created and exists solely for the sexual fantasy of straight cis-men. And you see, straight men "interest" in trans women is something.... "subcortical," and very weird. (Dude, I mean, if you wanted to compare it with cis dudes who fetishize trans women -which is kinda different from straight men who are attracted to trans women because the words "straight men" means... they are attracted to women- you are doing it wrong.)

And I love the "data about romance novel."

Get your "science" straight, or out of this Earth. Please.

ETA: I don't know, but it's really something that a lot of cis ladies are going there screaming, "HOW DARE YOU TO COMPARE IT TO MEN DIGGING TRANSSEXUALS. IT'S LESBIAN PORN THE RIGHT COMPARISON." I... uh.

HORROR.

Also.

Fed contractor, cell phone maker sold spy system to Iran

Two European companies — a major contractor to the U.S. government and a top cell-phone equipment maker — last year installed an electronic surveillance system for Iran that human rights advocates and intelligence experts say can help Iran target dissidents.

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), a joint venture between the Finnish cell-phone giant Nokia and German powerhouse Siemens, delivered what is known as a monitoring center to Irantelecom, Iran's state-owned telephone company.

A spokesman for NSN said the servers were sold for "lawful intercept functionality," a technical term used by the cell-phone industry to refer to law enforcement's ability to tap phones, read e-mails and surveil electronic data on communications networks.

In Iran, a country that frequently jails dissidents and where regime opponents rely heavily on Web-based communication with the outside world, a monitoring center that can archive these intercepts could provide a valuable tool to intensify repression.

Yes. This is The First World Power. Those Afghan civilians they are killing are getting in between their Public Relationships to support that war. What a bother.

Can I get angry now? Can I be completely outraged by those bastards?

OK. Amazon is pulling some amazing shit:

Amazon is apparently stripping the sales ranks from GLBT books, thus preventing them from showing up in some bestseller lists and searches (and potentially directly damaging their sales), on the grounds that they are "adult" material.

(This is regardless of whether they contain any explicit sex. Meanwhile, books with explicit heterosexual sex scenes retain their sales rank, as long as they're not overtly marketed as "erotica".)

And:

The idea that people with disabilities might have sex, apparently:

http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Guide-Sex-Disability-Disabilities/dp/1573443042

Incidentally, this is one of the many, many "disappeared" books where the Kindle edition still has a sales rank. Funny, that.

[livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong also noted that, in a clearly homophobic move, they pulled off the ranks from Heather Has Two Mommies, which, as you can see, is not "adult" at all.

So people, tell me, where do I buy books? You know I have no money and international shipping is extremely expensive for my country. :/

"Racism is bad"? More porn? Just... arg. Why in the fucking hell do you think this discussion is dragging on and on? I wonder if it's because, I don't know, people go and say crap like that.

Things like that? Make me hate fandom. Go, sweety, enjoy your white pretty-boy on white pretty-boy action and pretend racism doesn't have anything to do with you.

I love how some privileged asshats can't, you know, just avoid reading about racism and focus on their damn porn. God knows fandom produces a lot more porn than discussions of racism.

AJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA.

Exacto, hermana. Exacto.

Tsubasa fandom? SHUT. THE FUCK. UP.

Just. One. Fucking. Week.

Oh the hypocrisy. "Ignore fandom." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You know, you would make all this so much easier to ignore for me if you just weren't SPAMMING EVERYTHING WITH WANK IN MY FACE EVERY FUCKING SECOND.

I have to remember not to read a TRC's forum ever again. EVER.

People, sometimes? You just have to accept the gay. Sad, but true.

You know, Tsubasa's fandom always struck me as pretty intolerant towards Kurogane and Fay's het pairings. But now I see the fantards of forums in spanish going about 'how the gay will ruin their series', and 'HOW KuroganexTomoyo is SO canon'; and I just.... can't.

And I liked Kurogane and Tomoyo as a platonic pair. I truly did.
