I have an exam on Monday and the way I've been slacking is not even funny. I have... been reading shoujo manga. And my internet sucks.
Anyway, now I feel bad for complaining about Will Yun Lee lack of smiling. Seriously, for a man who has done so much, you really have to congratulate Ken Leung for his low profile. It's almost impossible to find pictures of him outside his movies/tv caps and promotional material.
Brilliant actor. Ken Leug has had prominent roles in The Sopranos, X-men, Saw, Red Dragon, etc., etc. He also lead independent film Shanghai Kiss along with Kelly Hu and Heroes' Hayden Panettiere. Now he is playing recurring character Miles Straume in Lost.
Even with all that quietness, he has some amazing interviews:
You can't do plays for free all your life. So when there's a part for an Asian character in a television show, you go out for it and build on that. It's not so premeditated, is what I'm trying to say. It's not like, "now I'm going to do TV. Now I'm going to do film." You try out for everything that you can. You don't have the luxury, when you're starting out, and certainly as a minority actor, you go for what's available and then you hope to just learn as you go and build on that as they come.
[...] I remember I had an audition once where after the reading, the auditioner would say, "Wow Ken, you speak really good English. Your English is really good." And looking back, I can come up with all these things that could have been witty retorts, but at the time, I was just so shocked, you know? And so I think all Asian American actors probably have similar stories like that. You can only play a part if you draw from your own personal experience.
Here you have, hot and mysterious.
