Reborn:

That was a nice surprise. I would love to see the Cervello as the master puppeteers, they obviously look like that to Byakuran, but I don't have my hopes up to high. Odds are that they are working for someone, some kind of... Mafia World Org maybe? (Maybe the same as the Vindice?)

I didn't take this arc's plot seriously until now, but things could get better and smarter. Maybe.

So here is my theory:

Cervello's motto is being "impartial," and the joke is that they never looked like that. In Varia's arc they appeared to be on Xanxus side; but when Tsuna defeated him, Xanxus told the Cervello, "this is what you wished," and they responded, "we don't have wishes." And maybe they don't (and boy, I can see a hundred of problems with that, but let's forget that for this post).

Then they apparently gave Byakuran the Mare ring and told him something like "the winner is already decided" (I don't have translations, I may be wrong on this), they helped him with his plans of gaining power, they refereed the Choice Battle (which was weird since they worked for Millefiore), and now we can pretty much assume that they knew this was going to end like this from the beginning.

Here's the thing. The boxes, the weapons, the medicine, and all the technological wonders of the era were made possible thanks to Byakuran's travels through different dimensions. Cervello or whoever is behind them wanted these things to happen. They could be, I don't know, a bigger power who wants "the world to advance;" maybe The One who is responsible for The Order Of The World, or someone who is trying to get something out of all this. I have no idea. They just wanted to go on like that. But they probably knew Byakuran will go power hungry, and since we are already assuming they knew "who the victor will be," they were probably also informed of Tsuna's scheming to defeat Byakuran. In a love-child between Tsubasa and Machiavello turns of events, we have a world full of technological wonders or whatever without the megalomaniac who achieved them. A.. very convoluted plan, I can say.

What will happen when they come back to the past and don't have those boxes, I wonder.

Kobato:

Well, I won't deny that the characters design weirded me out, but it was to be expected since this is Madhouse and has nothing to do with Tsubasa. I laughed out loud with the Ioryogi-Kurogane jokes though, they really were alike in this episode. Still, Kurogane being too polite and touchy-feeling was... kinda strange. I still liked it, not so much as I though I would. It was kinda alien, but I had my chance to squee at the voices which was all I wanted to do.
